What author has the same writing style as James A. Michener?

I have read Michener’s books many many times over. I need some new reading material with the same depth of historical background information wrapped around fiction. Who do you suggest and why?

So far, no answers, because there is no answer. James Michener was the only writer like him, and, to borrow a phrase:
“We will not see his like again.”
