Why would someone be interested in reading The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy? (newer version)?

I read it because I had read his ‘L.A. Confidential’ and seen the movie (great book, great movie – killer cast). Since I had liked that one so much, I bought ‘The Black Dahlia’.
