How long was the Calvin and Hobbes series in the newspaper comics?? Is it still running?

I recently discovered there even WAS a series called Calvin and Hobbes, and I googled it and it showed a picture of Calvin as a teenager arguing with his mom. Was this just made up, or did the real author (Bill Watterson) keep the series going?

Calvin and Hobbes ran from 1985 to 1995. As far as I’m aware, Calvin never ‘grew up’, so I’m fairly sure what you saw was a fake. After telling his readers that C&H was ending, Bill Watterson became very private and reclusive and apparently hasn’t worked on any comics since the last strip was published, reluctant to even sign autographs.
