Do you read detective novels?
And if so, which would you recommend?
It depends on what kind of detective novel You Are looking for.
I, for example, love Agatha Christie novels but those with a liking for highly modern gadgets, fast action and an elaborate spy network will find her books to be boring.
In Agatha Christie books the detection is done based on human psychology and with perfect “order and method”. Her plots are astounding but if you stop to think, entirely plausible. Agatha Christie creates quite an eerie atmosphere, there is a slight bit of romance in almost all the books and finally her two detectives, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, are simply amazing. The sheer brilliance of her books makes Agatha Christie my favourite detective author. No one, contemporary authors or otherwise, measures up to her.
If you would like to try her books (and I hope you do because you will be missing a very good thing otherwise) I would suggest:
Murder on the Orient Express
Peril at End House
Crooked House
Five Little Pigs
