how did some presidents become elected when they never went to school?
There are many American presidents who never went to school because they grew up in a log cabin and spent much of their lives on a farm. For example, Andrew Johnson, the 17th president never learned to read until his wife taught him when he was a young man.
But if they were uneducated how were they able to become knowledgeable enough about society and politics to become elected? It seems that every man (or woman) nowadays must have an impressive academic record and university degrees to be considered for a candidate nowadays.
You answered your own question, back in the days of old, I don’t know for sure if they had college. They were lucky to have basic reading and math. You don’t have to go to college to become knowledgable in society and politics, not even in todays world. As a matter of fact, you can become biased by attending college and being swayed by a professor, your fellow inmates….aahhh, I mean colleagues, if you see something that needs to be changed, and it doesn’t sit well with the class you attend, You Are more likely to change your mind and go with the majority of the people who don’t really care about what you care about, just to get along, and not face a bunch of people who look at you like you grew two heads, cause you don’t agree with them. In my opinion, Presidents should have to go out in the public, live in all types of situations, see all aspects of life, and learn about their fellow man by seeing and hearing him or her first hand. After all, it’s not about the rich kid who’s mom and dad can afford to send them to college that the president has to look after, they have their rich mom and dad to do that. It’s the people who are suffering and trying to make ends meet, knowing the rich is okay, but working for the real people in America is what we need from our American Presidents. Besides, you must be aware of what happens in college, it’s a big party, girls gone wild, frat. parties, sorority parties, mostly you learn how to drink, get stoned, and still wake up and attend class, which is what… maybe 3 days a week. But, it keeps money in the banks pocket, the governments pocket, and so on, loans, loans, loans……..those loans guarantee income to everyone who lends for years to come.
