Why can David Bryne perform Talking Heads song live but the Tom Tom Club can’t?

When David Bryne of the Talking Heads went solo, decided to perform the Talking Heads songs live when ever possible. Why doesn’t the Tom Tom Club( formed by the bass player and drummer from the Talking Heads) perform these songs? is it because of legal matters or because they don’t want to perform the songs?

David Byrne probably owns the rights to most of the Talking Heads songs.

Also, it just wouldn’t be the same for anyone to do those songs without Byrne.
