What are some extremely scary books?

I have read Mary higgins Clark books, they’re not THAT scary in my opinion…so I would like something even more scary. And thoughts?
I’ve heard of Stephen King? Is he good?

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard.
It’s scandalous but also scary. Don’t even watch the tv show, the books are way better (books are always better than the movies/tv shows).
The scary the books are not some paranormal-freaky-monster-coming-after-me-to-kill-me-and-eat-my-brains-out kind of scary. It’s more like is-someone(human!)-watching-me-and-could-they-be-a-few-feet-away.

To sum everything up, the Pretty Little Liars is a murder mystery story that has everyone guessing because whatever you guess is always wrong. And it has some hot scenes in it that want you to gag but continue reading.
